SEJAL GUPTA The Big Fat South Asian Show
2025
The Identity and graphics for The Big Fat South Asian Show (an exhibition at RISD Museum’s Gelman Gallery) seek to evade popularised design tropes through which South Asia is imagined in the Western Hemisphere. A play on the “Big Fat South Asian Wedding”, the design language for the exhibit is celebratory, joyous, and pronounced. The graphics include wall vinyl, wallpaper, postcards, posters, and social media posts.
Co-curated by Maithili Chaturvedi and Paree Rohera.
